Session Notes - August 7, 2008 Session

This session marked the first week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

In our second full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division, there will continue to be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 8 tournament division players who played 32 games in which we scored 11,354 points for a 354.8 points per game average. Of the 33 recorded bingos we played, four were phonies that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the Opening Play Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the first play of his/her first game of the session. Mickey Matz opened up his season with the dirty word SOOTIER for 66 points and cleaned up the $6.00 prize.

The second regular contest was the Lowest Win Contest for the lowest winning score during this session. Karen Lundeen squeaked out a win with her 321 score, just enough to carry off the $6.00 from this contest.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $1.50 added to it. We have paid out a total of $12.00 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (August 14, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• Low Powered Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word which has no letters with a face value higher than one point. If a blank is used, it may not be designated as a letter having a face value higher than one.
• High Powered Contest! - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who records the highest scoring play of a word containing one or more of the letters "K", "J", "Q", "X", and "Z".
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $5.79 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $1.50 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $12.51 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $10.46 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
