Session Notes - March 5, 2009 Session

This session marked the twenty-seventh week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

No games were played in the Recreational Division this week.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 3 tournament division players who played 12 games in which we scored 4,274 points for a 356.1667 points per game average. Of the 14 recorded bingos we played, one was a phony that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the High Powered Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains one or more of the letters "J", "K", "Q", "X" and "Z". Karen Lundeen score 81 pts for her play of REALIZE, but Ed Saunders snuck in a 94 point phony of vexates* to run off with the $2.25 prize.

The second regular contest was the Low Powered Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains no letters that are worth more than one point. Karen Lundeen went to her ARSENAL for 67 pts, but Ed Saunders found TEARERS for 72 points and the $2.25 prize.

Ed's $4.50 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. We have paid out a total of $276.76 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (March 12, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
• "UM" Let's Have A Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter couplet "UM" or "MU" somewhere within it (e.g. MUUMUUS, DUUMVIRS, MURMURED, EMULATED, SOLARIUM, ENCUMBER, SIMULATE, MUGWUMP, VACUUMED, etc.)
• Lookin' For A Job Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a job or profession of some sort (e.g. SEAMSTER, FLAGMAN, COLLIER, FURRIER, HOTELIER, MECHANIC, DOCENTS, WRANGLER, NEATHERD, etc.).
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $5.42 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $7.84 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $16.44 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $1.68 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
