In the Tournament session, we were joined by 5 tournament division players who played 22 games in which we scored 7,806 points for a 354.8 points per game average. Of the 20 recorded bingos we played, one was a phony that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests this week
The first regular contest was the "MB" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "M" and "B" somewhere within it. Sarah Jacobson and Pat Madea had the only two entries for this contest, splitting the pot with 21 pt plays of BERM and MOB respectively. By virtue of a coin toss, Sarah picks up the extra penny to garner a $1.88 payoff. Pat takes away the other $1.87.
The second regular contest was The Name Game Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is a proper name, or incorporates a proper name somewhere within it. Karen Lundeen scored 21 with GLENs, Pat Madea played JEWEL for 30, Sarah Jacobson got 38 for her play of JACKers, Mickey Matz went back to WKRP for coLONIes (Loni Anderson) to score 70, but Ed Saunders went all the way back to the future and found cLEArly (Lea Thompson) for 74 pts and the $3.75 prize.
Ed Saunders looked at the unpromising rack of ACEEEUV, located an open "S" on the board, and picked up a quick 105 pts with EVACUEES to win the $2.99 in the 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot
Ed's $6.74 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.
No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and
each shall have $0.93 added to it. We have paid out a total of $141.61 in
prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click
here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.
The next session (December 11, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• "PH" Contest - A quarter of dues
collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring
