Session Notes - July 31, 2008 Session

This session marked the thirty-eighth and final week of NSA Club #565's 2007-2008 season!

The August 7th session will begin the 2008-2009 season.

Since this season will be our first full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division. There will be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

Newcomer Maureen Fisher comprised our Recreational Division this week and played a couple of fun games against Karen Lundeen, Sarah Jacobson, and Mickey Matz. We welcome her to the club and hope to see her at future meetings. Click here for a roster of Recreational Players

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 5 tournament division players who played 24 games in which we scored 8,944 points for a 372.67 points per game average. Of the 24 recorded bingos we played, none was a phony that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the Sump'n For The Tummy Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or contains the name of somewhere within it, a food of some sort. Mickey Matz chewed on a TACO for 14 pts, Richard Spence fried up some AHI for 33, but Karen Lundeen stuck her FINGERS (Chicken) in the pot for 104 points and savored her victory and the $3.75 that came with it.

The second regular contest was the "C"s Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that begins with the letter "C". Karen Lundeen played CRAW for 19, Mickey Matz earned 31 for his play of CHAW, but Ed Saunders was on an island of his own when he played CAY for 38 points and claimed the $3.75 prize.

The 100 + Play Progressive Jackpot fell yet again this week. Karen Lundeen managed 104 points for her play of FINGERS to claim the $1.68 in the pot this week.

Ed's $3.75 winnings and Mickey Matz' $0.93 winnings from two weeks ago will be donated back to the club kitty. Thanks, guys!

No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.93 added to it. We paid out a final total of $258.78 in prizes during the 2007-2008 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (August 7, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• Opening Play Contest - This session marks the start of the 2008-2009 club season. In honor of this event, a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player whose first play of his/her first game is the highest scoring first play during this session.
• Lowest Win Contest! - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who records the lowest winning score during this session.
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $4.29 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $11.01 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $8.96 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
