Session Notes - June 26, 2008 Session

This session marked the thirty-third week of NSA Club #565's 2007-2008 season!

Since this season will be our first full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division. There will be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 4 tournament division players who played 24 games in which we scored 8,633 points for a 359.7083 points per game average. Of the 28 recorded bingos we played, one was a phony that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the Anything But "OUT" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains all three of the letters "O-U-T", in any order OTHER THAN O-U-T, somewhere within it. Once again, no one came out with an O-U-T play so we'll toss a $5.25 prize back out next time.

Because the club director forgot to update his paperwork this week, the second regular contest was once again the HI!, Let's Have A Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "H-I", in any order, somewhere within it. Ed Saunders ditched the competition with his 82 point play of DITCHED to take home the $3.00 prize.

Ed Saunders took a shine to the 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot this week, picking up the $9.70 for his 102 point play of REWAXED.

Ed's $12.70 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $226.55 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (July 3, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• Anything BUT "OUT" Contest - $5.25 plus a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains all three of the letters "O-U-T", in any order OTHER THAN O-U-T, somewhere within it. Words with OUT, in that order, will be tossed OUT of the competition. (e.g. CONATUS, SAUTOIRE, FAITOUR, TINAMOU, VITREOUS, BUOYANT, TURBOTS, THOUSAND, etc.).
• U-L Luv This Contest! - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "L" and "U", in any order, somewhere within it. (e.g. LUMBAGO, ULULATE, LARRUPS, FISTULA, UNUSUAL, MULBERRY, UMBRELLA, SQUILLA, ABOULIAS, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $1.31 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $8.03 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $5.98 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
