Session Notes - July 24, 2008 Session

This session marked the thirty-seventh week of NSA Club #565's 2007-2008 season!

Since this season will be our first full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division. There will be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

There were no games in the Recreational Division this week. Click here for a roster of Recreational Players

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 4 tournament division players who played 20 games in which we scored 7,368 points for a 368.4 points per game average. Of the 21 recorded bingos we played, one was a phony that went unchallenged.

Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the Talk To The Animals Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or contains the name of somewhere within it, an animal of some sort. Karen Lundeen went to the farm for some BOARS for 28 pts, Ed Saunders brought out some larval crustaceans with his play of ZOEAE for 48 pts, but Mickey Matz went sheepishly back to the farm to hang his bingo, TONGUES, on the end of YOWE (a ewe) to form YOWES/TONGUES for 88 pts and the $3.00 winnings

The second regular contest was the "A"s Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that begins with the letter "A". Ed Saunders scored 30 for his play of the Hebrew letter AYIN, Karen Lundeen scored 33 pts with her "island in the stream' play of AIT, but Mickey Matz awed everybody with his 34 point play of AWE to win both the day and another $3.00 prize

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $249.60 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (July 31, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
Sump'n For The Tummy Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or contains the name of somewhere within it, a food of some sort. (e.g. COUSCOUS, BIRYANI, POLENTA, GOULASH, ATEMOYA, BEEFwood, SEVICHE, TERIYAKI, FILBERTS, SANDWICH, etc.)
The "C"s Contest! - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that begins with the letter "C". (e.g. CAPYBARA, CHARQUID, CYANITIC, CHORAGUS, COONTIES, CONIINE, CALYPSO, COELOMES, CACIQUES, etc.)
Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $3.36 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $0.75 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $10.08 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $8.03 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
