Session Notes - May 22, 2008 Session

This session marked the twenty-eighth week of NSA Club #565's 2007-2008 season!

Since this season will be our first full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division. There will be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 3 tournament division players who played 10 games in which we scored 3,384 points for a 338.4 points per game average. Of the 8 recorded bingos we played, none was a phoney that went unchallenged.

There were no games played in the recreational division this week. Click here for a roster of Recreational Players

Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the Time To Catch Some "Z"s Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "Z". Sarah Jacobson zeroed in on this contest with her 36 point play of ZEROED, but Ed Saunders put a blemish on that plan with a 46 point play of ZIT. Ed puts the pinch on the $2.25 prize.

The second regular contest was the Teeny Tiny Tucson Tournament Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the highest number of "T"s. Pat Madea tried a STUNT for 32 points, but Ed Saunders played a TUTTI (a musical passage performed by all the performers) and waltzed away with another $2.25.

Ed's $4.50 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $181.30 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (May 29, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
"GO" For The Gold Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter couplet "GO", in that order, somewhere within it. (e.g. GODETIA, ONGOING, LENTIGO, GOMUTIS, CHIGOES, DONGOLAS, LANUGOS, DUGONGS, MONGOOSE, etc.).
The Game Is The Name Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a valid word that is the name, either first or second name, of a person. Unusual names must be justified by giving a full name of the person involved. Really unusual names will need to be verified before being considered for the prize. (e.g. SOJOURNER, BENEDICT, CELESTE, MAXWELL, JOHANNES, ROSEMARY, SOMERSET, JACOBUS, etc.)
Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $11.74 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $6.33 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $4.66 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $2.61 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
