Session Notes - May 8, 2008 Session

This session marked the twenty-seventh week of NSA Club #565's 2007-2008 season!

Since this season will be our first full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division. There will be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 5 tournament division players who played 22 games in which we scored 7,910 points for a 359.55 points per game average. Of the 25 recorded bingos we played, one was a phoney that went unchallenged.

Roger Wiens represented our recreational division this week, winning two of his three games against tournament division players. Click here for a roster of Recreational Players

Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the And The Winner Takes A Bowwow Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of within it, a breed or type of dog. This prize eluded everybody last week but Ed Saunders played PUG for 8 points and walked that doggie home for the $6.00 treat.

The second regular contest was the Go Fly A Kittiwake Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of any bird. Ed Saunders played NENE (a Hawaiian goose) for 10 pts, Richard Spence liked that so much he played NENES for 17 pts, Karen Lundeen tried CHATS for 27 pts, Pat Madea made 28 pts for his phoney of DOVEy, but Mickey Matz got one MOA point than that with his 29 point play of MOAt and flew away with the $3.75 prize.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.93 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $176.80 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (May 22, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
Time To Catch Some "Z"s Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "Z". (e.g. JAROVIZE, ZASTRUGA, ZAMINDAR, TZIGANE, KOLKOZY, FRAZILS, KYANIZED, GAZANIAS, etc.).
Teeny Tiny Tucson Tournaments Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the highest number of "T"s. (e.g. TOMTITS, ATTRITE, STRETTI, TOTALITY, TATTINGS, TASTIEST, TATTIEST, etc.)
Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $11.18 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $5.77 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $4.10 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $2.05 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
