| 1 | No Games This Week |
This session marked the thirty-fifth week of NSA Club #565's 2007-2008 season!
Since this season will be our first full season as a two-tiered club with
both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division. There will
be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.
There were no games in the Recreational Division this week. Click
here for a roster of Recreational Players
In the Tournament session, we were joined by 3 tournament division players who played 8 games in which we scored 2,712 points for a 339.0 points per game average. Of the 7 recorded bingos we played, none was a phony that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests this week
The first regular contest was the Monsoon Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that pertains to weather in some manner. Ed Saunders put his foot in the water and played WET for 12 pts. May the $2.25 prize pot rain down upon him.
The second regular contest was the CON-test Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "C-O-N", in that order, somewhere within it. Pat Madea was the conman this week, front-hooking the "I" from his phony roids onto a previously played CON. Consequently, Pat scored 20 points and the $2.25 prize.
Ed's $2.25 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.
Mickey Matz put together his personal high play of the year, totalling
119 points for his play of EXPIRES to cash in
on the 100+Play Progressive Jackpot and pocket the meager amount of $0.93
(that jackpot had been claimed just two weeks ago and hadn't built up much
equity yet) for the feat.
No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and
each shall have $0.56 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $240.23
in prizes this season. Click
here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.
The next session (July 17, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• The Birds Contest - A quarter of dues collected
shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of
a word that is the name of, or contains the name of somewhere within it,
a bird. (e.g. WARBLER, DUNLINS, seaROBIN, WHIMBREL, CATBIRD, jAUKing, MURRELET,
CACIQUE, LARKspur, THROSTLE, etc.)
• The "B"s Contest! - A quarter of
dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring
play of a word that begins with the letter "B". (e.g. BIBELOT,
BOOJUMS, BUGABOO, BOLOGNA, BISMUTHS, BEZOARS, BRONCHIA, BAASKAAP, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $2.24
plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who
scores a Triple-Triple

of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more
points in a single play
