Session Notes - May 8, 2008 Session

This session marked the twenty-sixth week of NSA Club #565's 2007-2008 season!

Since this season will be our first full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division. There will be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 3 tournament division players who played 10 games in which we scored 3,389 points for a 338.90 points per game average. Of the 7 recorded bingos we played, one was a phoney that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the And The Winner Takes A Bowwow Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of within it, a breed or type of dog. Everybody chased their tails on this one this time around and no one was able to bury the $2.25 prize. We'll toss it back out to the pack next time and see if someone wolfs it down then.

The second regular contest was the Color Me A Winner Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of a color. Pat Madea saw just enough red to drop PUCE on the board for 8 points and a little bit of green (the $2.25 pot).

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $167.05 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (May 15, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• And The Winner Takes A Bowwow Contest - $2.25 plus a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of within it, a breed or type of dog. (e.g. LAPDOGS, BASENJI, SAMOYED, HYAENAS, AARDWOLF, JACKALS, BLUETICK, REDBONE, MONGREL, salCHOW, PUPation, SHEPHERD, TERRIER, etc.).
• Go Fly A Kittiwake Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of within it, any bird. (e.g. DRONGOS, WHIMBREL, AASVOGEL, TOMTITS, ORTOLANS, SISKINS, DUNLINS, VERDINS, seaROBIN, WRENched, CATBIRD, MACAWber, APTERYX, CAZIQUE, unROBINg, CHUKARS, GOSHAWK, LANNERET, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $10.25 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $4.84 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $3.17 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $1.12 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
