Session Notes - 30 November 2006 Session
This session marked the fourth of NSA Club #565's 2006-2007 season!
We were joined by 7 players who played 16 games in which we scored 12,199 points for a 762.4375 point-per-game average. Of the 43 recorded bingos we played, 2 were phonies that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for this session include:
- High Game - 559 points by Lewis Saul
- Low Win - 363 points by Bob Whitcomb
- High Loss - 417 points by Judith Whitcomb (Opponent at 434)
- Bingo King - Lewis Saul for averaging 2.0000 bingos per game

We featured two contests this session. The first was the Beat You By a Bingo Contest awarded to the player who wins a game by the bonus score of a bingo (50 points) without going over it. In a strange twist of fate, this prize goes to Naurlene Canterman who won her game by 31 points (and actually DID play a bingo in the game). The second was the High T Contest, named so in honor of the upcoming Tucson Tournament for the highest scoring word that begins with the letter T. Naurlene Canterman played TRAILERS for 26, Ed Saunders plopped down TYE for 36, but Jason Sommer picks up the prize with an 86 point bingo of TEACHING. Both Naurlene and Jason take home $5.25.
Lewis Saul snagged the 100+ Point Progressive Jackpot for the second straight week with a 134 point play of PREQUELS en route to his 559 game and takes home a $1.31 prize. The remaining three jackpots shall each have $1.31 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $76.95 in prizes this season. The next session (30 November) shall feature the following contests:
•Pearl Harbor Contest - December 7th marks
the 65th anniversary of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor. In light of
the current news coverage of wars in general, we're going to concentrate
on a different aspect of Pearl Harbor. A quarter of dues collected shall
be awarded to the player who plays the highest scoring word which pertains
to harbors or the state of Hawaii (e.g. TUGBOAT, KAMAAINA, SCHOONER, VOLCANO,
etc.) To qualify for the prize, you must include a sentence that connects
the word to harbors or Hawaii. Be creative, if you can make the connection,
you just might win the prize.
•High Verb Contest - A quarter of dues collected
shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of
a verb in any of its forms(e.g. MISTEUK, STREELS, STRIDDEN, etc.). To qualify
for this contest you must note the play and the score at the bottom of your
scorecard.
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $2.43
plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who
scores a Triple-Triple
play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth
of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more
points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $11.02 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores
565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $7.59 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays
a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
