This session marked the twenty-fifth of NSA Club #565's 2006-2007 season!
We were very happy to welcome Judith Whitcomb back to the fold following her recent hip replacement.
We were joined by 4 players who played 10 games in which we scored 7,662 points for a 766.2 (383.1 ind) point-per-game average. Of the 32 recorded bingos we played, 4 were phonies that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for this session include:
Some interesting bingos:
This was the seventeenth week of the "Special Letter Bingo Contest"
with "S" being the "Special Letter"
for the week. Click
here for rules and current standings All four attending players scored
points this week and Ed Saunders holds a big lead with 9 weeks to go.
We featured two regular contests and one repeat this week.
The never-ending repeat contest was the "BE" The Verb Contest
for the highest scoring play of a verb utilizing the prefix "BE"
as a prefix. And yet again, no entries were received
for this contest , so it will "BE" coming back again next week
as well. Someday, $2.50 will "BE" in the pocket of a winner.
The first regular contest was the Happy Bird-Day, John! Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that pertains to the wonderful world of birds. Lewis Saul and Bob Whitcomb submitted bird names, so no sentence was needed to qualify, but Lewis's 17 point DODO was a dead duck against Bob's 32 point JAY. Bob feathers his nest this week with the $2.50 prize.
The second regular contest was the LO And BehOLd, It's a Winner! Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains either of the two letter combos "LO" or "OL" somewhere within it. Lewis Saul played LOP for 22, Ed Saunders chimed in with PILOT for 24, but Judith Whitcomb prayed to the scrabble gods and came up with HOLY for 30 points and the $2.50 winner.
No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $277.99 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2006-2007 season.
