IMPORTANT!!!. . . . NEXT
CLUB MEETING ON July 12th. . . .
Due to a variety of reasons, there will be no
one available to run club # 565 on June 28th or July 5th. Therefore there
will be no club meetings on those two dates. Please mark this on your calendars.
Club will resume play as usual on July 12th.
This session marked the thirty-third of NSA Club #565's 2006-2007 season!
We were joined by 2 players who played 6 games in which we scored 4,376 points for a 729.3333 (364.6667 ind) point-per-game average. Of the 13 recorded bingos we played, one was a phony that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for this session include:
Some interesting bingos:
This was the twenty-fifth week of the "Special Letter Bingo Contest"
with "L" being the "Special Letter"
for the week. Click
here for rules and current standings No points were scored this week.
Ed Saunders still holds a commanding lead with 1 week left to go in the
contest. Lewis Saul has sole possession of second place and Karen Lundeen
hangs on to a slim one point lead for the third spot.
We featured two regular contests this week.
The first regular contest was the First Day of Summer Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is summer-related or pertains to summer activities. Ed Saunders came up with "If I don't play better than this in Reno this summer, I might as well just go fly a KITE." 36 pts. Lewis Saul wins it, though, with the somewhat downbeat "The DULLNESS of summer in Tucson is unbearable." 68 pts.
The second regular contest was the Food For Thought Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of something that can be eaten as a food. Ed reached into the exotic herb jar and came out with OCA - a South American herb - for 18 pts. Lewis held the keys to the spice rack, though, and produced some CHIVEs - also an herb - to go along with his NAN - a round, flat bread - each of which is worth 21 points and allows Lewis to savor the victory in this contest as well.
Lewis picks up $2.00 for his efforts this evening.
No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.37 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $350.56 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2006-2007 season.
The next session (12 July) shall feature the following contests:
•Special Letter Bingo Contest - Final Week
- This week's "Special Letter" is "X"(See
"Special Rule" in Contest Rules).
Any Bingo beginning with the letter "X"
will earn two points. In addition, one point will be awarded for any bingo
played that contains the "Special Letter" but does not begin with
it and one point will be awarded for each additional occurrence of the "Special
Letter" within the word. Click
here for rules and current standings
• On Walden Pond Contest - On July 12, 1817,
Henry David Thoreau was born in Concord, Massachusetts. In honor of this
occasion, a quarter of dues collected (less 50 cents) shall be awarded to

of country living. . . .(e.g. OUTHOUSE, PLOWING, DAYBREAK, PASTORAL, IDYLLIC,
HAYRICK, TRANQUIL, HENHOUSE, COWSHED, TRACTOR, HARVEST, SONGBIRD, RUSTICS,
etc.) . To qualify for this contest, you need to write a sentence connecting
your word to country living in some manner. If you can make the connection,
you might just earn yourself a night on the town.
