This session marked the thirty-fifth of NSA Club #565's 2006-2007 season!
The evening belonged to Richard Spence.
We were joined by 2 players who played 7 games in which we scored 5,914 points for a 844.8571 (422.4286 ind) point-per-game average. Of the 28 recorded bingos we played, one was a phony that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for this session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured one repeat and two regular contests this week.
The repeat contest was the "The Name of the Game Is ???" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of a recognizable game. Richard Spence picked up the $1.75 prize with "When the children played PIN-the-tail-on-the-donkey, they pinned the tail on his foot." (18 pts)
The first regular contest was the First Woman's Rights Convention Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that pertains to Woman's Rights or the pursuit thereof. Richard Spence submitted "Women started BLENDING into American society in the early 1900's." (70 pts) but Ed Saunders takes the $1.50 prize with his entry of "Seeking OUTLETS from which to advance the cause of Woman's Rights; Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucretia Mott, and others organized the first Woman's Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, NY on July 19, 1848." (88 pts)
The second regular contest was A Developing Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of an immature life form. Richard Spence had the only entry for this contest "The fox's KIT got lost in the blizzard." (22 pts) Richard finds another $1.50 in his pocket as a result of this play.
On a night where Richard Spence was getting good letters and playing them really well, he put together a 566 opening game to take home the $1.30 prize for the Club # 565 Progressive Jackpot awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game. Richard also had games of 554 and 490 points in this session.
No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.37 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $384.36 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2006-2007 season.
The next session (26 July) shall feature the following contests:
• War of the Roses Contest - On July 26, 1469,
the Battle of Edgecote Moor was fought in England's War of the Roses. In
honor of this occasion, a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to

VIOLETS, ASTILBE, PISTILS, CALYXES, BOUQUET, AZALEAS, MARIGOLD, OXALISES,
PANSIES, MAYBUSH, BLOOMING, GARDENIA, ORCHIDS, etc.) . To qualify for this
contest, you need to write a sentence connecting your word to flowers in
some manner. If you can make the connection, you might come out of this
one smelling like a rose.

-A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in
the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "J"
