This session marked the twenty-fourth of NSA Club #565's 2006-2007 season!
Jason Sommer is in town for the week and joined us for a couple of games. He expects to be here again next thursday.
We were joined by 3 players who played 6 games in which we scored 4,417 points for a 736.1667 (368.0833 ind) point-per-game average. Of the 13 recorded bingos we played, none were phonies that went unchallenged.

This was the sixteenth week of the "Special Letter Bingo Contest"
with "D" being the "Special Letter"

and Ed saunders holds onto an eight point lead with ten weeks to go.
We featured two regular contests and one repeat this week.
The repeat contest was the "BE" The Verb Contest for the highest
scoring play of a verb utilizing the prefix "BE" as
a prefix. And yet again, no entries were received for this contest
, so it will "BE" coming back again next week as well. Someday,
$2.50 will "BE" in the pocket of a winner.
The first regular contest was the Minute Man Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that pertains to time or the passage of time. Lewis Saul picked up this prize with "The PROSPECT of spending even one more minute with the nut case was unpleasant." (90 points) Lewis can look forward to the prospect of having an extra $1.75 in his pocket next week.
The second regular contest was the I'd Like to Buy an "I", Please Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains at least two "I"s somewhere within it. Lewis Saul played VIZIR for 34 points, but Jason Sommer bingoed out to win a game with GRITTIER for 62 points and the $1.75 prize.
No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $272.99 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2006-2007 season.

• Happy Bird-Day, John! Contest - On April
26, 1785, John James Audubon was born in present-day Haiti. In honor of
this event, a quarter of dues collected (less 50 cents) shall be awarded
to the highest scoring play of a word pertaining to the wonderful world
of birds (e.g. TOWHEES, HOOPOES, CAZIQUE, BIRDBATH, TITMOUSE, CARDINAL,
BLUEJAY, NIGHTJAR, REDTAIL, NESTING, CREEPER, FLIGHTS, SWALLOW, PHEASANT,
etc.) . To qualify for this contest, you need to write a sentence connecting
your word to birds in some manner. Make the connection and you might FEATHER
your own nest this week.
•LO And BehOLd, It's a Winner! Contest -A quarter
of dues collected (less 50 cents) shall be awarded to the player who turns
in the highest scoring play of any word containing either of the letter
combos "OL" or "LO" somewhere within it (e.g. , AXOLOTL,
LOCATED, OLDSQUAW, THEELOL,
GARDYLOO, etc.).
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $1.12
plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who
scores a Triple-Triple
play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $1.12 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores
100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $5.98 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores
565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $1.68 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays
a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
