Session Notes - 14 June 2007 Session

IMPORTANT!!!. . . .Adjustment to club schedule!!!. . . .Due to a variety of reasons, there will be no one available to run club # 565 on June 28th or July 5th. Therefore there will be no club meetings on those two dates. Please mark this on your calendars. Club will resume play as usual on July 12th.

This session marked the thirty-second of NSA Club #565's 2006-2007 season!

We were joined by 4 players who played 8 games in which we scored 6,324 points for a 790.5 (395.25 ind) point-per-game average. Of the 26 recorded bingos we played, two were phonies that went unchallenged.

Some numbers and whatnot for this session include:

Some interesting bingos:

This was the twenty-fourth week of the "Special Letter Bingo Contest" with "V" being the "Special Letter" for the week. Click here for rules and current standings No points were scored this week. Ed Saunders still holds a commanding lead with 2 weeks to go. Lewis Saul has sole possession of second place and Karen Lundeen hangs on to a slim one point lead for the third spot.

We featured two regular contests this week.

The first regular contest was the Flag Day Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that either contains the letters FLAG in any order or being the name of any governmental, national, or state symbol. Ed Saunders had the only entry for this contest with "By far the most recognizable symbol of England is the QUEEN Mother." (32 pts)

The second regular contest was the Love Your Pets Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of an animal one might realistically have as a pet. Ed Saunders chipped in with "One of our golfers lets his Black LAB (22 pts) take a long, refreshing run alongside his golf cart every morning." Richard Spence, meanwhile, put together 3 qualifying entries: OX (22), HEN (23), and the winner "There is a gray HOG (25) in the barn."

Richard and Ed both wend their way home with $2.50.

Ed Saunders' 638 game takes home the $11.96 Club #565 Progressive Jackpot. Lewis Saul picks up $7.10 for his triple-triple, INGESTED. And, last but not least, Richard Spence takes home $7.66 for his 9-letter bingo, GLISTENED.

No one cashed in on the 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot this week and it shall have $0.75 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $348.56 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2006-2007 season.

The next session (21 June) shall feature the following contests:
Special Letter Bingo Contest - Week twenty-five - This week's "Special Letter" is "L". Any Bingo beginning with the letter "L" will earn one point. In addition, one point will be awarded for each additional occurrence of the "Special Letter" within the word. Click here for rules and current standings
First Day of Summer Contest - June 21st is the first day of summer!! (Yay!!) In honor of this occasion, a quarter of dues collected (less 50 cents) shall be awarded to the highest scoring play of a word that is summer-related or pertains to summer activities. (e.g. SOLSTICE, EQUINOX, LAZINESS, VACATION, BIKINIS, OLYMPICS, MONSOON, BAREFOOT, SUNTANS, FISHING, ESTIVATE, YARDWORK, etc.) . To qualify for this contest, you need to write a sentence connecting your word to summer in some manner. If you can make the connection, you might just earn yourself a place in the sun.
Food for Thought Contest -A quarter of dues collected (less 50 cents) shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of something that can be eaten as a food. (e.g. CHICKEN, BASMATI, TORTILLA, VINDALOO, AVOCADO, SANDWICH, TIRAMISU, RIBLETS, BERRIES, POTATOES, FEIJOAS, WALNUTS, KIELBASA, WEENIES, etc.).
Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $0.75 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
