We were joined by 3 players who played 5 games in which we scored 3,983 points for a 796.8 (398.4 ind) point-per-game average. Of the 16 recorded bingos we played, none was a phony that went unchallenged.

Ed Saunders picks up the $13.00 first place prize with 17 points. Lewis
Saul grabs second place and $8.00 with 5 points and Karen Lundeen squeezes
out the $5.00 third place prize with 4 points.
We featured two regular contests this week.
The first regular contest was the On Walden Pond Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that pertains to the idyllic pleasures of country living. Monique Kornell submitted "The summer days were SUNNIER and longer and Thoreau enjoyed them thoroughly." (64 pts.) Ed Saunders wins it, though, with "The laughing rancheros gathered around the hapless COWHAND sprawled out in the dusty corral, right where his frisky little filly had deposited him just moments before." (95 pts.) Ed stuffs $1.75 into his bib overalls and moseys on home.
The second regular contest was the "The Name of the Game Is ???" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of a recognizable game. There were no entries for this contest and it will run again next week with $1.75 awaiting the winner.
No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $378.31 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2006-2007 season.
The next session (19 July) shall feature the following contests:
• First Woman's Rights Convention Contest -
On July 19, 1848, the First Woman's Rights Convention began in Seneca Falls,
New York. In honor of this occasion, a quarter of dues collected shall be
awarded to the highest scoring play of a word that pertains to Woman's Rights
or the pursuit thereof. . .(e.g. SUFFRAGE, AGENDAS, ELECTIVE, PROCESS, CITIZEN,
GENDERS, EQUALITY, COLLEGE, WORKING, PROPERTY, etc.) . To qualify for this
contest, you need to write a sentence connecting your word to Woman's Rights
or the pursuit thereof in some manner. If you can make the connection, you
might have a political future.
•A Developing Contest -A quarter of dues collected
shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of
a word that is the name of an immature life form. (e.g. CHILDREN, GRUBWORM,
SAPLING, CYGNETS, PIGLETS, TADPOLES, SEEDLING, LEVERET, TEENAGER, MINNOWS,
EAGLETS, FETUSES, NEONATE, PLUTEUS, SPROUTS, LAMBKIN, etc.).
•The Name of the Game is ??? Contest -$1.75
shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of
a word that is the name of a recognizable game. (e.g. EUCHRES, HOCKEYS,
PACHISI, BASEBALL, SKITTLES, BEZIQUE, SCRABBLE, MONOPOLY, CANASTA, PINOCHLE,
BOWLING, KEGLING, BOSTONS, RUMMIES, CHARADES, etc.).
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $0.93
plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who
scores a Triple-Triple
play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $1.68 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores
100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $0.93 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores
565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $0.93 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays
a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
