Session Notes - 12 April 2007 Session

This session marked the twenty-third of NSA Club #565's 2006-2007 season!

We were joined by 3 players who played 7 games in which we scored 5,159 points for a 737 (368.5 ind) point-per-game average. Of the 17 recorded bingos we played, none were phonies that went unchallenged.

Some numbers and whatnot for this session include:

Some interesting bingos:

This was the fifteenth week of the "Special Letter Bingo Contest" with "Q" being the "Special Letter" for the week. Click here for rules and current standings One "Q" bingo was played and Ed Saunders now holds an eight point lead with 11 weeks to go.

We featured two regular contests and one repeat this week.

The repeat contest was the "BE" The Verb Contest for the highest scoring play of a verb utilizing the prefix "BE" as a prefix. Once again, no entries were received for this contest , so it will "BE" coming back again next week as well. Someday, $2.50 will "BE" in the pocket of a winner.

The first regular contest was the Beginning of the End Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that pertains to beginnings, endings, or change in general. Lewis Saul submitted: "He FOUNDED (68) his own school." but Ed Saunders wins the prize with "The character of I-10 completely changes when the highway CONGESTS (78) at rush hour." Ed creeps on home with his $1.75 prize.

The second regular contest was the Generic High Play Contest for the highest scoring play of the evening. Ed Saunders picks up this prize, also, with a 97 point play of ORACHES and sees his personal fortune grow by another $1.75.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $269.49 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2006-2007 season.

The next session (19 April) shall feature the following contests:
Special Letter Bingo Contest - Week sixteen - This week's "Special Letter" is "D". Any Bingo beginning with the letter "D" will earn one point. In addition, one point will be awarded for each additional occurrence of the "Special Letter" within the word. Click here for rules and current standings
"BE" The Verb Contest - Maybe this time, $2.50 shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word utilizing the prefix "BE" as a prefix (e.g. BEDAUBS, BELADIES, BESMIRCH, etc.) A verb such as BETTERED, which is merely a word that begins with "BE", will "BE" disqualified.
The "Minute Man" Contest - On April 19, 1775, following the "Midnight Ride of Paul Revere", American Minute Men confronted British troops at Lexington and Concord and sent them marching back to Boston in defeat. In honor of this event, a quarter of dues collected (less 50 cents) shall be awarded to the highest scoring play of a word pertaining to time or the passage of time (e.g. MINUTES, HOURLIES, SECONDS, HISTORY, FUTURES, DURATION, INTERIM, ANCIENT, AGELESS, BIENNIAL, ALMANAC, MIDNIGHT, etc.) . To qualify for this contest, you need to write a sentence connecting your word to time or the passage of time in some manner. Make the connection and you might see an INSTANT windfall this week.
I'd Like to Buy an "I", Please Contest -A quarter of dues collected (less 50 cents) shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of any word containing at least two "I"s somewhere within it (e.g. REAGINIC, HONGIING, INDICIA, CONIINE, ANIONIC, TUITION, etc.).
Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $0.56 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $0.56 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $5.42 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
