Session Notes - 09 November 2006 Session

This session marked the second of NSA Club #565's 2006-2007 season!

We were joined by 10 players who played 26 games in which we scored 18,776 points for a 722.2 point-per-game average. Of the 51 recorded bingos we played, 6 were phonies that went unchallenged.

We featured two contests this session. The first was for high loss, which Carol Jones picked up with an assist from the first Triple-Triple play of the season in a 460-470 game against Josh Kassel. The other contest was the "Power Blank" contest for the highest scoring play of a word that used a blank designated as apower tile. This second contest had no entries, and we'll run it again next week. Carol takes home a $6.25 prize.

As mentioned, Carol Jones picked up the 3x3 Progressive Jackpot by playing PORTAGES through an open R for 140 points. This is her 1st ever 3x3 play and is memorable for that fact and for the $10.09 prize she wins for it. The remaining three jackpots shall each have $1.68 added to it. Finally, the "First Two Letters Alphabet Bingo Contest" saw no players score. Ed remains in 1st place with 23 points, and Lewis Saul is in 2nd with 16 points. Click here for standings and rules. The next session (16 November) shall feature the following contests:
•Low Win Loss Contest - ~A quarter of dues awarded shall be awarded to the player who turns in the lowest scoring losing score.
•Double High Consonant Prize - ~A quarter of dues awarded shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that uses two consonants in a row that are worth more than one point each (e.g., ACCURATE, COBBLED, AFFABLE, etc.). To qualify for this contest you must play at least one of the two repeating consonants.
•Power Blank Contest - $6.25 shall be awarded to the highest scoring play of a word that uses a blank tile designated as one of the following power tiles: J, Q, X, or Z. Extending a previously played "power blank" word counts (e.g., adding an S to ANTIqUE to form ANTIqUES)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - An eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $1.68 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $8.59 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $5.16 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
•"First Two Letters" Alphabet Bingo Contest - This session's "First Two Letters Alphabet Bingo Contest" letter is Z. Every bingo you play that uses a Z as its first or second letter scores you one point. For standings and rules, click here .
