This session marked the twenty-sixth of NSA Club #565's 2006-2007 season!
We were joined by 3 players who played 7 games in which we scored 5,327 points for a 761 (380.5 ind) point-per-game average. Of the 20 recorded bingos we played, only 1 was a phony that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for this session include:
Some interesting bingos:
This was the eighteenth week of the "Special Letter Bingo Contest"
with "R" being the "Special Letter"
for the week. Click
here for rules and current standings Lewis Saul and Karen Lundeen moved
into a tie for second place. Ed Saunders has a substantial lead with 8 weeks
to go.
We featured two regular contests and one repeat this week.
The never-ending repeat contest was the "BE" The Verb Contest
for the highest scoring play of a verb utilizing the prefix "BE"
as a prefix. And this time, FINALLY, there were
some entries. Lewis Saul played BEFIT for 17 points,
but Ed Saunders dropped down BEMOAN for 22 points
and the $2.50 prize.
The first regular contest was the Jamaica, Hello! Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that pertains to Jamaica or any other island nation. Ed Saunders turned in a strong nonbingo play "As the sailboat race began, you could see hundreds of Jamaicans lining the QUAIS." (66 pts). But Lewis raced off with the winner. "The tiny Jamaican village was not SANITARY." (72 pts). Lewis cleans up with the $1.75 prize.
The second regular contest was the "Y" Not End With a "Y"? Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that ends with a "Y". Why not, indeed? Ed Saunders again challenged with a "Q" word nonbingo, playing LACQUEY through the "A" for 41 pts, but once again Lewis' SANITARY dusted off the $1.75 prize, giving Lewis a tidy sum of $3.50 for the evening's work.
No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $283.99 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2006-2007 season.
The next session (10 May) shall feature the following contests:
•Special Letter Bingo Contest - Week nineteen
- This week's "Special Letter" is "K".
(See "Special Rule" in Contest Rules)

will earn two points. In addition, one point will
be awarded for any Bingo containing, but not starting with, the "Special
Letter" and one point will be awarded for each additional occurrence
of the "Special Letter" within the word. Click
here for rules and current standings

Promontory Summit in the Utah Territory, Officials and workers of the Union

the nation from coast to coast. In honor of this event, a quarter of dues

a word pertaining to connections or joinings of any sort (e.g. GLUIEST,
VELCROS, QUOINED, SHIMMED, TREENAIL, COUPLING, SEWINGS, JOINERY, etc.) .
To qualify for this contest, you need to write a sentence connecting your
word to connections or joinings in some manner. Make the connection and
you might connect with some money this week.
