Session Notes - 02 November 2006 Session
This session marked the first of NSA Club #565's 2006-2007 season! Yay!
With the Grand Canyon Tournament happening, we started the season with an intimate group of 4 players who played 14 games in which we scored 10,455 points for a 746.8 point-per-game average. Of the 38 recorded bingos we played, 1 was a phony that went unchallened.
Some numbers and whatnot for this session include:
- High Game - 530 points by Ed Saunders
- Low Win - 341 points by Naurlene Canterman
- High Loss - 385 points by Joshua Kassel (Opponent at 530)
- Bingo King - Ed Saunders for averaging 2.2857 bingos per game
- When NOT to challenge - Ed Saunders went dyslexic in his game against Josh Kassel and played WA* at 10B while Josh was holding a rack of ACIQST? (a playable bingo of ACQuITS). Rather than challenge WA* off, Josh let it stand and front hooked it to play AWA and ACQuIT at A10, an 84 point play that allowed him to keep his S.
- Deja Vu Alert - Josh Kassel notes that in his game against Ed Saunders, Ed played EHJ to an open U to form JEHU for 28 points. The very next turn, Josh played EHU from Ed's J to play JEHU as well for—you guessed it—28 points as well.
- Minds In The Gutter - Naurlene Canterman opened her game against Josh Kassel with a bingo of BALLERS (snicker, snicker). Josh responded with a bingo of his own: COCKIEST (snicker, snicker).

As this session marked the first of the club's 2006-200 season, we featured two contests tio mark the occasion. The first was for the highest scoring first play of any game. Ed Saunders' opening bingo of BROODED for 74 was bested by 10 by Nancee Mancel starting her game out with an 84 point bingo of CHANGED. We also ran a contest for the highest scoring first game of the session, which d saunders picked up with a 466 pointer. Josh and Ed both take home $2.50 prizes.
Ed Saunders picked up the 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot with a 124 point play of SEXIEST; he also played KIESTER for 101, pocketing him $0.75. The remaining three jackpots shall each have $0.75 added to it. Finally, the "First Two Letters Alphabet Bingo Contest" saw no players score. The next session (9 November) shall feature the following contests:
•High Loss Contest - ~A quarter of dues awarded shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring losing score.
•Power Blank Contest - ~A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the highest scoring play of a word that uses a blank tile designated as one of the following power tiles: J, Q, X, or Z. Extending a previously played "power blank" word counts (e.g., adding an S to ANTIqUE to form ANTIqUES)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $8.41 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - An eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $6.91 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $3.55 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
•"First Two Letters" Alphabet Bingo Contest - This session's "First Two Letters Alphabet Bingo Contest" letter is Y. Every bingo you play that uses an Y as its first or second letter scores you one point. For standings and rules, click here .
