Session Notes - August 2, 2007 Session
This session marked the thirty-seventh of NSA Club #565's 2006-2007 season!
With this session, we began play with our new format, incorporating a Recreational Division into the club structure. Recreational players will not be charged formal dues, but a $2.00 optional prize fee will be charged to those who choose to enter the weekly contests (Recreational and Tournament Contests will be separate and will vary). Tournament Rules Division players will continue to be charged $3.00 weekly dues to cover club expenses and fund weekly prizes as in the past.
We were joined by 3 players who played 8 recreational games. Of the 21 recorded bingos we played, one was a phony that went unchallenged.

- AGISTED \v. to feed and take care of for a fee, as livestock (played by Ed Saunders)
- ERINGOES \n/pl. a medicinal herb (played by Ed Saunders)
- OREGANO \n. an aromatic herb used as a seasoning (played by Ed Saunders)

- RETSINA \n. a resin-flavored Greek wine (played by Ed Saunders)
- UPTAKES \n/pl. an upward ventilating shaft (played by Ed Saunders)
The next session (9 August) shall feature the following contests:
• Recreational Contest - In honor of our club's
new format, a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the highest
scoring play of a word that pertains to recreational activities. . . .(e.g.
FISHING, CONCERTS, CINEMAS, SCRABBLE, MAHJONG, WALKING, CRUISING, CYCLING,
PICNICS, BIRDING, etc.) . To qualify for this contest, you need to write
a sentence connecting your word to recreational activities in some manner.
If you can make the connection, you might be able to relax with your winnings.
•"Where Was That, Again?"Contest
-A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in
the highest scoring play of a word that describes a particular or general
place or location. (e.g. COLORADO, COUNTRY, BEDROOM, CHATEAU, VINEYARD,
MOROCCO, SEASHORE, MOUNTAINS, BALLGAME, etc.). Your word needs to be recognizable
as a place or location.
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $1.67
plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who
scores a Triple-Triple
play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $2.42 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores
100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $0.37 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores
565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $1.67 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays
a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
