Session Notes - 31 August 2006 Session
This was the 40th session of the 2005 - 2006 Season of National Scrabble Association Club #565!
We were joined by 8 players who played 21 games in which we scored 15,452 points for a 735.8 point-per-game average. Of the 54 recorded bingos we played, 3 were phonies that went unchallenged..
Some numbers and whatnot for this session include:
- High Game - 493 points by Ed Saunders
- Low Win - 352 points by Karen Lundeen
- High Loss - 395 points by Naurlene Canterman (Opponent at 447)
- Bingo King - Robert Whitcomb for averaging 2.2 bingos per game

Lewis Saul was our big winner this week, nailing both the session's contests. A 19 point win in a 395-376 contest won him the Close Win Contest. And going out with a 62 pont bingo of SOUTANES plus 28 points off his opponent's rack won him the Ending on a High Note Contest for the most amount of points won in the final play of the game plus the tiles from his opponent's rack. Lewis will take home $11.00 for the session.
Three of the four progressive jackpots were won this week. For the second session in a row, Naurlene Canterman won the Triple-Triple Play Progressive Jackpot with a 140 point OVERLETS; she wins $1.50. Robert Whitomb picked up the 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot with EQUATES for 111 points as well as a $6.30 prize. Finally, Josh Kassel and rex Kremer will split the $21.92 9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot. Josh hooked a previously played BE to form BEGINNERS. Rex put down a 9 of CAVITATES. The remaining Club 565 Progressive Jackpots shall $1.50 added to it. Finally, the "First Two Letters Alphabet Bingo Contest" saw five players score a total of 15 points. Ed remains in 1st place with 18 points, and Lewis Saul is in 2nd with 11 points. For standings and rules, click here . The next session (07 September) shall feature the following contests:
•Colorword Contest - ~A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who plays the highest scoring play of a word in which is spelled out the name of a color (e.g., HONORED, WHITEST, ABLUENT, etc.). Extending a previously played "colorword" counts (e.g., adding an S to AZURE to form AZURES) as does extending a word to form a "colorword" (e.g., adding ED to TEAR to form TEARED).
•Next to Nothing Contest - ~A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who makes the highest scoring play the turn after he or she or his or her opponent exchanges tiles.
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - An eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - An eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $3.12 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - An eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
•"First Two Letters" Alphabet Bingo Contest - This session's "First Two Letters Alphabet Bingo Contest" letter is P . Every bingo you play that uses an P as its first or second letter scores you one point. For standings and rules, click here .
