We were joined by 13 players, including June Scott -- a new player who comes to us with a 755 rating. Welcome June! We played a total of 37 games in which we scored 27,113 points for a 732.8 point-per-game average. Of the 90 recorded bingos we played, 4 were phonies that went unchallenged.

The first contest of the session was the "HURREDLY* JURORING* the NURDIEST*
play that STINKED* up the Game Contest" for the highest-scoring successful
challenge of an opponent's phony word or word. Ed Saunders took this by challenging
the phony INTRAILS*, which would have been worth 113 points had it
been allowed to stand. Other words that were challenged off were:
- PITTIED* -- an 88 point play that was challenged off the board by
Daniel Forrest.
- REHONES* -- a 73 point play that was challenged off the board by
Judith Whitcomb.
- VIENNAS* -- a 69 point play that was challenged off the board
by Monique Kornell.
- SURVIAL* -- a 66 point play that was challenged off the board by
Tess Lind.
Our second contest was the "PHX Tournament Contest" in honor of
the upcoming Phoenix Tournament for the highest-scoring play beginning with
P, H, or X. Daniel Forrest took this one with an 88 point play of a phony
word no less: PREOWNED*. It's worth noting this is the second week
in a row Dan has won contests with phony words. Ed and Dan both take home
$8.50.
This session also featured the letter K in the ongoing Alphabet Bingo Contest in which all bingos starting with an "K" scored a point. No bingos beginning with K were played, and Nathan Benedict is in the lead and Monique Kornell is in second.Click here for Alphabet Bingo standings and rules!
