This was the 18th session of the 2004 - 2005 Season of National Scrabble Association Club #565!
We were joined by 10 players, who played a total of 26 games in which we scored 19,005 points for a 730.9 point-per-game average. Of the 62 recorded bingos we played, 3 were phonies that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for this session include:
High Game - 552 points by Robert Whitcomb (His highest game this season)
Low Win - 319 points by Naurlene Canterman
High Loss - 414 points by Nathan Benedict
Bingo King - Nathan Benedict for averaging 2.25 bingos per game
Some interesting bingos:
- FREESIA \n. An African herb (played by Ed Saunders)
- HASTATE \adj. Triangular (played by Nathan Benedict)
- PANGOLIN \n. A toothless mammal (played by Nathan Benedict)
- SEQUELA \n. An abnormal condition resulting from a preceeding disease (played by Ed Saunders)
The first contest of the session was the "I C a contest " Contest for the highest-scoring playending with "-IC." There was only one entry for this contest, and naurlene Canterman takes it home with a 28 point play of TOXIC. Our second contest was the "Any 6" contest for the highest scoring play made using any 6 tiles. This was a much battled contest that was won by Nathan Benedict with his 58 point play of REMEDY. Close behind him and worth mention, however, was Naurlene Canterman's 57 point play of SHERRY and Robert Whitcomb's 54 point play of EXCITE. Naurlene and Natahn both take home $7.00 prizes.
This session also featured the letter M in the ongoing Alphabet Bingo Contest in which all bingos starting with an "N" scored a point. Nathan Benedict was the only player to turn in a bingo starting with an N and he remains in the lead, with Monique Kornell and Ed Saunders are tied for second.Click here for Alphabet Bingo standings and rules!
None of the four progressive jackpots was taken, and $1.87 shall be added to each. As of this session, we have payed out $421.98 in prizes for the 2004-2005 season. Click here for a complete list of winners.
