+ Session NotesThis was our 39th session of the season. We were joined by 11 players. Notable appearances included Nathan Benedict, who is back in town after a summer away; visiting Arizonan Jessie Jones, who made the trek from the Yuma area to join us; and Jeremiah Ramirez, a Tucsonan who played in the most recent 1-day tournament in Phoenix and decided to come down and join us. Welcome all! We played a total of 29 games in which we scored a total of 21,019 points for a 724.8 points-per-game average. We played 66 bingos this session. Of those bingos, four were phonies that went unchallenged. As of this session, we have paid out $928.35 in prizes for the 2003-2004 season; click here for the list of winners! Some numbers and other oddness for the session include: Nathan Benedict announced his return by being the top player of the session with a 5-2+670 scorecard. The session's contests were the High Loss prize and the "X-citing" Contest for the highest-scoring play that used the "X" tile. Lewis Saul won the High Loss prize with a losing score of 406 (to his opponent's 507). Bob Yarmchuk won the "X-citing" contest with a 63-point play of XENIC. Both Lewis and Bob take home prizes of $6.75. Nathan Benedict and Daniel Forrest both nailed Triple-Triple plays this session. Playing through existing word OAK, Dan scooped up 117 points by turning it into RESOAKED. Nathan made his mark by playing the highest-scoring play of the season: a 239-point phony word of ZINKIEST#. Nathan and Dan will share the 3x3 jackpot as well as the 100+ Point lay jackpot and each take home $2.61. The other two jackpots will each have $1.68 added to them. + Bingos by PlayerBelow are the bingos played during the 12 August 2004 session at National Scrabble Association Club #565.
