+  Session Notes

This was our 49th session of the season. Ten players joined us. We saw the return of Jake Jacobs and Cairn. We are glad to see them both! We played 24 games this session. Those games saw 18,544 points scored for a 772.7 points-per-game average, or 386.3 points-per-player-per-game average. 66 bingos were played, of which, 5 were phonies that went unchallenged.

Jake Jacobs showed that a break from Scrabble is not necessarily a bad thing by being the evening's top player. Nathan Benedict wears the Bingo King crown by playing 14 bingos in 5 games, for a 2.8 bingo-per-game average. From the close call department, Linda Bredel saw a tie game as well as a one-point win in the six games she played this evening; as a reminder, it never hurts to recount. Also worth noting this session was Nathan Benedict pulling three back-to-back bingos in his game against Josh. This translates into 262 points in three consecutive turns.

Ed Saunders cleaned up this session. He pocketed the prize for the High Win of the session with a 574-point game. Ed also won the 9+ Bingo Jackpot by throwing down a bingo of nine letters: RELATIVES. The other prize of the evening was for the highest-scoring play beginning or ending with NO. Nathan Benedict takes that prize with an unimpressive 23-point play of NOR. Ed and Nathan both take home $4.50 for the evening's contests. Additionally, Ed picks up another $4.38 for the 9+ Bingo Jackpot. That jackpot now rolls back to zero.

Ed won the 9+ Bingo Jackpot. The other three jackpot prizes went unclaimed, and each shall have $1.25 add to it. The Alphabet Bingo letter for the night was Y, and nobody played a bingo beginning with that letter. Next week will be the final round of the Alphabet Bingo contest. With Ed in 1st place with 19 points, it looks like he will be the winner of the $26 jackpot.

Next Session (30 October) will feature the following contests:
- "End of the Season" Contest - To commemorate this being the last session of the 2002-2003 season, a prize shall be awarded to the player who makes  the highest-scoring play using the tiles E, N, and D played in that order (e.g.,  BLENDER, TRENDY, ENDEARS, etc.). In order to qualify for this prize, you must play all three "END" tiles. Blanks count. (~a quarter of dues collected)
- Low Win - A prize will be awarded to the player with the highest winning score (~a quarter of dues collected)
- Triple-Triple Jackpot - $1.25 plus an eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to any player(s) who scores a Triple-Triple Play.
- 600 Jackpot - $9.80 plus an eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to the player to any player(s) who score 600 or more points in a game.
- 9+ Bingo Jackpot - An eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to any player(s) who scores a bingo containing nine or more letters. 
"Deja Bingo" Jackpot - $10.67 plus an eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to any player(s) who plays the same bingo more than once in a session.
- Alphabet Bingo - The Alphabet Bingo letter for this session is "Z." For each bingo you play that begins with the letter Z, you score one point. Click here for rules. ($26 Jackpot)
