+  Session Notes

This was our 48th session of the season. Thirteen folks were in attendance, including Richard Fields, who we welcomed back from his summer home of Seattle.

We played 32 games in which 22,683 points were scored. 56 Bingos were played, of which four were phonies that went unchallenged. Each game averaged 708.8 points, for a 354.4 points-per-player-per-game average.

Richard Fields' return to Tucson was done with a splash. Rich won a sizable jackpot prize with by playing his first ever Triple-Triple play -- a huge 167 point play of SWEETINGS, which was promptly (and unsuccessfully) challenged. Rich went on to finish the game with his highest-ever score of 520 points; welcome to the 500 club! Also rounding out a good evening of play was Karen Lundeen, who gained 8 rating points and reached a new personal high club rating of 1100. Congratulations to both!

The two top players this evening were Nathan Benedict and Norma Paxson, both turning in perfect score cards. Nathan wears the Bingo King crown this week with 9 bingos in 5 games. Nathan also won both of the evening's contests. Although she came close with a 82-point play of SEAFOOD, Linda Bredel was unable to capture the "Double O Bingo" prize due to Nathan's 93-pointer of UNICOLOR. Nathan also got the High Four play by beating out Judith Whitcomb's 4-tile, 60-point play using the tiles ERTX with a 68-point play using the tiles JSTU. nathan takes home $12. 

As mentioned, Rich won the Triple-Triple Jackpot. He takes home a $5.51 prize, and that jackpot rolls over to zero again. Nobody won the other three jackpot prizes, and $1.68 will be added to each. Rounding out the night, nobody played a bingo beginning with the letter X; the Alphabet Bingo Contest standings remain unchanged.

Next Session (23 October) will feature the following contests:
- "NO Play is Good Play" Contest - A prize will be given for the highest-scoring word that begins or ends with NO (e.g., NOCKS, KIMONO, NOHOW, OREGANO, etc.). To qualify for this  prize, you must actually play both the N and O tiles. Hooking onto a previously-played word (e.g., adding O to PAISAN to form PAISANO or adding N to ONCE to form NONCE) does not count.. (~a quarter of dues collected)
- High Win - A prize will be awarded to the player with the highest winning score (~a quarter of dues collected)
- Triple-Triple Jackpot - An eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to any player(s) who scores a Triple-Triple Play.
- 600 Jackpot - $8.65 plus an eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to the player to any player(s) who score 600 or more points in a game.
- 9+ Bingo Jackpot - $3.13 plus an eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to any player(s) who scores a bingo containing nine or more letters. 
"Deja Bingo" Jackpot - $9.42 plus an eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to any player(s) who plays the same bingo more than once in a session.
- Alphabet Bingo - The Alphabet Bingo letter for this session is "Y." For each bingo you play that begins with the letter Y, you score one point. Click here for rules. ($26 Jackpot)
