Session Notes:

This was our 26th session of the season. We had 14 players who competed in 33 games in which a total of 23,941 points were scored. Out of the 71 total bingos played throughout the evening, only 3 were phonies that went unchallenged.

We were delighted to be joined by Yvonne Knickerbocker, who is living in Santa Monica, CA, these days. Yvonne happened to be in town visiting her daughter and dropped in for the evening. She promises to visit more often. We will hold her to that promise.

Lewis Saul was the top player of the evening as well as winner of two of the session's prizes. Lewis takes the prize for High Win with a 481-point game. Lewis also wins the Color Contest (highest-scoring word that is a color) by playing a 72-point bingo of MARIGOLD. Other interesting Color Contest entries included ORIOLES (colorful birds, but not actual colors) and RAINBOWS (a colorful noun, but again not colors in itself). The REplay Contest for higest-scoring word that starts with RE- and can stand alone with the RE- removed goes to Nathan Benedict for a 77-point play of REVERTS (VERTS being forest vegetation). The only other entry was Josh Kassel's RETUNING, which only scored 64 points. Lewis picks $12.50 for winning two prizes; Nathan collects $6.00 for his.

The Alphabet Bingo contest featured the letter B. Only two folks turned in bingos beginning with the letter B, and so far Ed Saunders is in 1st place. For Alphabet Bingo details, click here. Nobody nailed a Triple-Triple play or a bingo with 9 or more letters, and we will add $3.25 to each of these jackpots

Next Session (22 May) will feature the following contests:
- Numbers Contest - A prize will be awarded to the player who playes the highest-scoring word that contains a number (e.g., CONED, FIVER, TENTED, ASININE, etc.) (~a quarter of dues collected)

- "Hot as Hell" Contest - Summer weather is upon us. Therefore, a prize will be awarded to the highest-scoring play that relates to hot days in Arizona (e.g., BAKE, SWEAT, MONSOON, PARCH, etc.). Be creative. If you can justify a not-so-obvious word as relating to a hot day in Arizona, write it down (e.g., "The MERCURY rose to 105 degrees") -- creative entries count.  (~a quarter of dues collected).
- Triple-Triple Jackpot - A jackpot of $10.75 plus an eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to any player(s) who score a Triple-Triple Play.
- 9+ Bingo Jackpot
-
A jackpot of $17.25 plus an eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to any player(s) who score a bingo containing nine or more letters.
- Alphabet Bingo
- The Alphabet Bingo letter for this session is "C." For each bingo you play that begins with the letter B, you score one point. Click here for more information about Alphabet Bingo. ($26 Jackpot)
