Session Notes:
This 32nd session of the season was active. 11 players compete in a total of
30 games in which 21,468 points were scored for an overall average of 715.6 points per game, or
357.8 points per player per game. We saw 61 bingos played this session. Of
those 61 bingos, only 4 were phonies that went unchallenged.
When it rains, it pours. We had
three bingos of nine letters played this session, meaning the 9+ Bingo Jackpot
was finally won for the first time since the March 6 session when Rex
Kremer played TOPSIDERS. Linda
Bredel played REFILTERS for 58 points. Later the same session, Rex Kremer
played WOODINESS for 76 points and REINSURER for 61 points. Since three
qualifying bingos were turned in, the pot will be split three ways. Linda picks
up $11.34 for her bingo; Rex picks up $22.67 for his two. Congratulations to both!
Lewis was the top player of the
session. Ed Saunders was bingo king for the third week in a row. Monique
Kornell won the Low Win contest for a 347-point victory. Ed Saunders won the
session's "Fire Contest" for the highest-scoring play that contained
a word relating to the spate of wildfires that are plaguing us by playing the
word DAMPENS for 96 points. Ed and
Monique each pick up $5.00 prizes. As this was the final session of the month,
the monthly rankings are available for your viewing pleasure as well.
The Triple-Triple jackpot remains
unclaimed and now is at $27.00. Nobody scored any points this week in the
Alphabet Bingo contest, and Ed Saunders remains in first place with 8 points.
With the 9+ Bingo Jackpot Claimed, we are going to start another new contest:
"Deja Bingo." We are going to throw a small portion (one-sixteenth)
of the dues collected each session into a pot. Any player who plays the same
bingo more than once in the same session wins that pot.
Finally, there were two very nice parallel
plays worth pointing out. Lewis Saul played a bingo and five 2-letter words
(for a total of six words) in a single play with his bingo WONDERS played beneath
MOIRE. Click
Here to see Lewis' play. Joshua Kassel was also able to form one
2-letter word, two 3-letter words, one 4-letter word, and a bingo (for a total
of five words) in a single play with his bingo UNRESTS. Click
here to see Josh's play.
Next Session (03
July) will feature the following contests:
- High Win - A prize will be awarded for the lowest winning score
in a game. (~a quarter of dues collected)
- Independence Day Contest - A prize will be awarded to the
highest-scoring play that contains a word relating to Independence Day (e.g., FLAG,
PATRIOT, FIREWORK, etc.). Be creative! If you can justify a word as
relating to the holiday in a sentence (e.g., "I plan on serving HOTDOGS
and MUSTARD at my 4th of July barbecue"), we'll accept it as an entry (~a quarter of
dues collected).
- Triple-Triple Jackpot - A jackpot of $27.00 plus an eighth of
the evening's dues will be awarded to any player(s) who scores a Triple-Triple
Play.
- 9+ Bingo Jackpot - A jackpot will be awarded to any player(s) who scores a bingo containing
nine or more letters.
"Deja Bingo Jackpot" - A jackpot will be awarded to any
player(s) who plays the same bingo more than once in a session.
- Alphabet Bingo - The Alphabet Bingo letter for this session is "I."
For each bingo you play that begins with the letter I, you score one point. ($26 Jackpot)
