Session Notes:

We had a light crowd this session, most likely due to folks resting up for this upcoming weekend's Phoenix tournament. We played a total of 22 games in which 15,962 points were scored. 44 bingos were played this session. Of those bingos, only one (bridgers) was a phoney that went unchallenged.

Naurlene Canterman captured first place with a perfect 5-0 +370 scorecard. Also, Nathan Benedict set a new club record. Helped in no small part by four bingos, Nathan scored a 608-point game(!), the highest scoring game ever seen at this club.  Ironically, though, this session did not feature an award for highest game. Rather, there was a conest for lowest scoring win, which John Jensen  grabbed with a 329-point win.

The contest for the highest-scoring word containing four consonants in a row went unclaimed. As is such, there will be an extra contest at the 20 February session that will feature a $5 prize. Nobody was able to play a Triple-Triple, and the pot for doing so is now at $36.50. Additionally, nobody nailed a bingo of 9 or more letters, and that pot is now at $5.50.

Finally, a bit of sad news. John Jensen informs us that he will be moving on to greener pastures. John accepted a position with The Park Service and will spend the next four years stationed in Hawaii. John will be leaving Tucson at the end of this month. We are happy for his opportunity but are sad about his departure.

Next session (20 February 2003) will feature prizes for:
- High Win (a quarter of dues collected)

- High K Play - A prize will be awarded to the plaer who plays the highest-scoring word that contains the K tile. To win this prize, the actual K tile must be played. Hooking onto a previously-played K word or designating the blank as a K do not count (a quarter of dues collected).

- Triple-Triple plays ($36.50 plus an eighth of dues collected)
- 9+ Bingos  ($5.50 plus an eighth of dues collected)
- High Non-Bingo - A prize will be awarded to the player who plays the highest-scoring word that is not a bingo.
($5).
