Session Notes:

This was our 23rd session of the season. We welcomed a new player named Gary Long. Gary read about us in "The Tucson Weekly" and decided to come down for a few games. We had17 players who competed in 35 games in which a total of 25,588 points were scored. 72 bingos were played this session. Of those bingos, four were phonies that went unchallenged. As this was the last session of the month, April club rankings are out!

This session was all about Vic Kaye, who had an amazing night against some very tough players. Vic went 3-1+47 for the evening, losing only to Naurlene Canterman (and "VICtimizing" all others). In the process he set a new club record for the most club ratings points gained in a single session, earning 73(!) points to push his rating into the quadruple digits -- all this without playing a single bingo throughout the night. A tip of the hat also goes to Gary Wagman for picking up 57 ratings points, a great performance as well. Congratulations to both!

Cairn was the only player to turn in a perfect scorecard this session. She had time for only one game, but made it count by turning in her highest game ever (538 points), scoring her first Triple-Triple (an unchallenged phony of tritoner* for 131 points), averaging 2 bingos per game (another personal best), and winning one of the evening's prizes (which will come later). Way to go!

Contests for this session were for High Game and "Oh, you are!" (the highest-scoring word containing OUR played in that order). Nathan Benedict wins the prize for high game with a score of 546 points. Despite the extremely common "OUR" letter combination, only Cairn noted an OUR play on her scorecard, playing (you guessed it -- OUR for 15 points. Both Nathan and Cairn pick up $8 prizes for the evening.

The Triple-Triple jackpot was won with a vengeance! We had three players turn in triple-triple plays. As previously noted, Cairn played a phony of tritoner* for 131 points. Lewis Saul played WHINNIES for 167 points, and Nathan Benedict was able to lay down ECHIDNAE for 185. The $11.75 Triple-Triple Jackpot will be split between the three. Nobody played a bingo of nine or more letters, and the 9+ Bingo Jackpot is now at $7.

Next Session (1 May) will feature prizes for:
- High Loss (a quarter of dues collected)
- May Day Contest - May 1st is May Day, so a prize will be awarded to the player who plays the highest-scoring word that contains the tiles M, A, and Y, played in any order (e.g., LOAMY, DISMAY, CAMPILY, SUMMARY, etc.). To win this prize you must play all three of the tiles M, A, and Y at once. Hooking onto a previously-played word that contains one of these tiles does not count. Designating a blank as one of these three tiles does not count. (a quarter of dues collected).
- Triple-Triple Jackpot (an eigth of dues collected)
- 9+ Bingo Jackpot ($7 plus an eigth of dues collected)
