Session Notes - May 10, 2012 Session

This session marked the thirty-eighth week of NASPA Club #565 (Speedway Scrabble Club)'s 2011-2012 season!

The tournament rules divisions were joined by 3 players who played 48 games in which we scored 16,452 points for a 342.7500 point-per-game average. Of the 28 recorded bingos we played, none was a phoney that went unchallenged.

Travis Carlson dominated division A with a 6-0 +842 pt performance.

Sarah Jacobson took top honors in division B with a 10-9 -306 pt showing.

Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week.

If you have a contest idea or perhaps a favorite contest from the past, let me know, we'll try to work it into the mix. This week's contests were from the club archives.

Division "A" had 2 players this week. Division "B" had 1 player.

The first regular contest was the "Q" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "Q" somewhere within it. In Division "A", Ed Saunders locked himself in to 69 pts with QUOD (a prison) but Travis Carlson made a 76 pt INQUIRY about the $1.50 prize and pocketed the payoff. In Division "B", Sarah Jacobson invoked a matched set of five babies to score 69 pts and the $0.75 prize with QUIN (a quintuplet).

The second was the You Animal! Contest for the highest scoring play of a main word that is the name of an animal of some sort. In Division "A", Travis Carlson's 36 pt OWLET was no match for Ed Saunders' 75 pt LEOPARD as the big cat claimed the $1.50 prize. In Division "B", Sarah Jacobson's 34 pt JAY flew away with the $0.75 payoff.

Travis Carlson rode three bingos (LENTOIDS 71, DEVEINS 99, and LEAKING 84) to a massive 583 pt game to wring $2.24 from the Club 565 Progressive Jackpot.

The other Progressive Jackpots went unclaimed this week and $0.56 will be added to each next session. We have paid out $703.17 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2011-2012 season.

Next session's contests are from the club archives.
